The most important services that affect city dwellers daily lives are decided at the city council level. For example, public services, including city planning, culture, social and healthcare services and education. And in the city council elections, people who make decisions about these important services are elected! We currently are living through an eco-social crisis. Nature is under threat, and social inequality is rising. Most parties and politicians seem to think that once they have succeeded, they can assume everyone else has simply been lazy, completely ignoring structural challenges that affect people’s well-being. Thankfully, the Left Alliance has capable candidates, who are up for advancing politics that take this crisis seriously. Topics like environment protection, animal rights, livelihoods, support for families, affordable housing, mental health services, accessibility and anti-racism are all actively promoted. In this situation, I chose to focus on one main theme. Equality first. Because if we forget treating everyone in a fair manner, any solution with good intentions can fail. That is, as a city councillor, I want to ensure that all decisions take into account groups that are often forgotten in our society today. These include nature, minorities and future generations. Because ensuring a just and fair future is a quite wide and demanding task, I chose to focus solely on this by advancing equality! Does this mean that the other important topics that ensure a society that works for everyone are not a priority? No, just that each topic approached with a lens of equality would help us reach the better future for all that we want! Back to cartoons menu
