17) Arvind’s dreams 3/20: Urban farming for everyone WelcomeElectionsCartoonsRecommendationsArticlesEventsDonateSuggestChange Language العربيةفارسیEnglishEspañolFrançaisKiswahiliSuomiSvenskaதமிழ் What initiatives would I propose when I am elected? a.k.a Arvind’s dreams 3/20 Urban farming for everyone! Helsinki is home to more than 630 000 people. 86% of homes in Helsinki are in multi-storey buildings. Only a small percentage of Helsinkians are able to farm in their own place, be it their yards, allotment gardens, farming plots or large balconies. Hence urban farming for everyone would be an important step towards equality. The city would do this by offering tips, materials and courses in multiple languages, so that everyone could get started with growing their own food. Urban farming that is made easy in this way would also be a good way to get to know the neighbours, while helping the environment. It could even be a method to take back the city squares from cars. Interesting idea, but nobody should be forced to do urban farming! Not at all, just that any city dweller who wants to would be able to grow their own food, and at the same time make the city a greener and nicer place to live! Back to cartoons menu
